About
As you can read on the History Page, Zion has long and rich history within this community, having been organized in 1875. Zion is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and is a part of the Northern Great Lakes Synod. It is also a part of the Menominee Valley Conference of eleven local E.L.C.A. congregations and includes Northland Lutheran Retirement Community.
Presently Zion has 535 baptized members, with 101 of these members being children Grade 8 and below. Our average weekly worship attendance is 130. We have two weekly services, one on Thursday evenings at Northland Village and the other on Sunday mornings at Zion. You can learn more about our worship opportunities by going to the Worship Page.
Zion’s Mission Statement is: As God’s children, we go where Jesus leads. We see our congregation as the product of God’s work. Thus, our purpose is to be about the mission that God has called and gifted us to do. Zion has a Vision Statement as well. This statement describes what we believe God’s dreams are for Zion from this point in our history to well into the future. Our logo in the upper right hand corner reflects both our Mission Statement and our Vision Statement. Zion’s Vision Statement can be viewed by clicking here.
In addition to Pastor Keith Kolstad, Zion is served by ten part-time staff members in various capacities. You can read more about our staff members by going to our Staff Page.
Zion is an open congregation that welcomes people of all backgrounds as we try to live out God’s hospitality to all. You can listen to one of Pastor Keith’s sermons by visiting the Sermon Page. Visitors are also welcome to attend any of our worship services or special events. As Zion has been a home to so many throughout the years, we pray that you might also feel at home within this congregation, and experience God’s renewing love as we pray, worship, study, invite, encourage, give, and serve together.
