   This is going to be short and sweet. I had something written and I thought I sent it and it simply disappeared.
   “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven” (Matthew 7:21). This passage puts the onus on us to act and do and doesn’t mention the grace of God. This has long been a stumbling block for me and I’m trying to get past it. We humans are a sinful lot and even when we try to do the will of the Father we may fail. We don’t hear his call; we’re too busy, we’re too afraid of failure or looking the fool, we’re fearful about what others might say, the list is seemingly endless. Just this morning I was questioning whether what I was doing was a result of God’s call or my stoking my own ego. I pray it’s because of his call but since the thought popped into my mind it makes me wonder.

   This is part of the reason why a calling has both an interior and an exterior component. One of these components all by itself is not enough.
