Lenten Midweek Meal and Worship
St. James and Zion are jointly hosting the Lenten Suppers and worship at Zion, on Wednesday evenings beginning at 5:30. Typically meals will consist of soup, bread, and desert. Week Three will feature a spaghetti dinner. A freewill offering for the meal will be taken. Worship will follow the meal and will begin at 6:00. This year’s worship theme is: Life Together – Meditations on Building Christian Community, based upon the book by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. This Wednesday’s speaker will be: Pastor Richard DeBenedetto – “The Ministry of Bearing One Another.” During the worship services, child care and children’s education – SPARK Faith Formation – will be available.
SPARK: Faith Formation News
1) The kids are singing during worship on Sunday, the 26th of Feb. The song is: “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.” Please have your children to Zion by 9:10 that Sunday in order to be able to run through the song once before the service starts. The kids can sit with their parents that Sunday and just come forward when it is time to sing.
2) There will be NO SPARK Faith Formation on Ash Wednesday, February 22. The worship service on that evening will begin at 6:30.
3) There will be SPARK Faith Formation on the Wednesday evenings of Soup Suppers. It will begin at 6:00, after the supper is finished, and will take place during the worship service. It will last only a half hour and will not include music time.
Spark: Faith Formation
SPARK: Faith Formation will be starting for the children of Zion on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, 6-7 pm, for ages 3 through fifth grade. After the Christmas vacation, classes will be held on Sundays after worship. You can find a Registration Form in the Narthex. When filled out, you can return it to my mailbox in the Fellowship Hall. Otherwise, you can go to Zion’s website and click the link for the Spark: Activate Faith Program. From there, fill out your sign-in information, then go to the profile tab and fill in your family’s information. All information will be safe on this website. Registration is very important! If you children can only make it once a month, or your grandchildren are visiting, we still would love to see them in the classrooms.
Spark is Bible focused, exploring one of the lessons used at the following Sunday’s worship. The Spark website also allows parents to see what stories, events and fun activities, the children are having throughout the year. There will be a Christmas and Easter Program this year, which will be held during Sunday worship.
We are still in great need of teachers and subs to make this wonderful new program work for our kids. If you would like to work with the children of Zion to witness the joy of learning about Jesus, please contact Tracy Nowak or Pastor Keith.
We need donations of cookies or snack food which will be served to the children during SPARK: Faith Formation. It could be crackers, cookies, jello, juice pouches, or bottles of juice. These treats do not need to be homemade. We will need these snacks all year long. There will be a basket in the narthex to collect these donations.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Tracy Nowak, SPARK: Faith Formation Superintendent, 715.587.3084, or tjnowak92@hotmail.com.
