Cancellation Notice

It is with great sadness that Zion announces the cancellation of its worship services effective immediately. At the present moment, we are planning an 8-week suspension. Just as we hope that it might for some reason be less than 8 weeks, we also hope that it will not be more! We will all stay tuned to what the CDC and government officials are recommending. As stated this past Sunday, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts, we make the sacrifices that love demands, and one of the most loving things we can do presently is to refrain from being in close contact with one another.

We do plan to have some kind of live worship available on Facebook Live on Sunday mornings at 9:30. What exactly that will look like has yet to be determined, although I have had calls that the puppets need to be considered. We’ll see.

This is a time filled with challenges, and we will be making it up as go along because this is new for all of us. Fruits of the Spirit will be in high demand: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Who knew this would be so timely?)

At Zion, we hope to use the time to do some LONG overdue “spring cleaning;” going through files, scanning documents, putting things in order. This extended “Sabbath time” that has been placed on all of us is certainly an opportunity to retool. I hope it can be so for you.

Obviously, most of Zion’s expenses will still go on. It troubles me that I need to point this out, and I hoped to avoid doing so, but I just can’t. Only about a 25% of our active households use electronic giving and not quite 50% make an annual pledge. Obviously, with the economic uncertainties occurring along with this pandemic, we are all anxious about our financial health. Therefore, in light of all of this, please consider keeping up on your regular giving to Zion. If you do not yet give electronically, you can do so very easily in the interim by going to Zion’s webpage and clicking on the DONATE button. It is super easy and VERY flexible. You can start and stop whenever you want. If you need help getting electronic giving set up, our Financial Secretary, Karen Houdek, is more than glad to help. Her number is: (715) 735-7180. You are also welcome to mail in your donations. Thank you so very much for your consideration of this.

Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions, concerns or needs. My cell number is 715-587-7898.

With you in the hope and peace of Christ,

Pastor Keith
