Dwelling in The Word

Why should the Congregation Council and the Confirmation class have all the fun? Let’s try something new. Starting on Monday, April 27th, Zion will offer three Dwelling in the Word opportunities each week.

On Monday mornings @ 9:00, Wednesdays @ 1:00, and Thursday evenings @ 7:00 Pastor Keith will host a 45 minute session of Dwelling in The Word for anyone who would like to gather via Zoom, an on-line meeting app. Those who are interested in being a part of the gathering will need to email Pastor of their interest at least a half hour before the meeting begins in order for him to email you a Zoom invite to the meeting.

The format will be as follows:

There will be a brief check in time, followed by an opening prayer. Pastor will read the text, (one of the lessons for the upcoming Sunday), and there will be a time of silence following. Then everyone will have a chance to share initial thoughts, questions or connections that were made with the text. Someone in the group will read the text once again and it will be followed with a time of silence. Following this silence, the group will then engage in a deeper discussion of how the text is speaking to them or touching their lives. At the end of the discussion there will be a time of prayer. If there are people wanting to stay following the prayer, a time of general visiting will be offered at the end.

The same text will be offered at all three gatherings. You are welcome to attend any gathering you want; more than one is fine as well. We’ll see how it goes and make modifications as necessary. We won’t know unless we try.

You do not need to be connected via a computer. Phone connections are available as well. Video connections are welcome but not necessary. Contact Pastor Keith if you are new to Zoom, and he will walk you through the process of getting connected. Most people report that it is pretty easy.

Consider this as a way to connect with your old friends or make new friends at Zion, as well as an opportunity to grow in faith through this prayerful connection with Scripture. Lets see how it goes.
